IT TAKES a lot to bring Nova radio host Fitzy to tears, but an emotional Mother’s Day reunion tipped him over the edge this morning.

IT TAKES a lot to bring Fitzy to tears, but an emotional Mother’s Day reunion tipped him over the edge.

The former AFL player was misty-eyed after he and his Nova breakfast show co-host Wippa gave one Sydney mum an experience she’ll never forget.

Ahead of Mother’s Day, Fitzy and Wippa decided to surprise a listener called Sandy who hasn’t seen her London-based daughter, Jess, in two years.

“We told Sandy that her daughter had entered a competition to win a day spa for Mother’s Day from Nova,” Wippa said on Nova 96.9 this morning.

When Sandy arrived at Signature Day Spa, she was handed an iPad and played a video message from her daughter Jess wishing her a happy Mother’s Day.

The mum assumed that Jess was still in London, but little did she know that the radio duo had secretly flown her daughter 16,000km to surprise her.

Sandy was taken into a room where she lay down on a table and had a towel placed over her eyes ahead of the massage.

Instead of a masseuse, Jess entered the room and in a disguised voice asked her mum, “What brings you here today?”

“I’ve got a pampering session from my daughter for Mother’s Day,” Sandy said, “She’s in London”.

“What would you say if you’re daughter was here today?” asked Jess.

“One huge thank you,” Sandy replied.

“Well ... you’re welcome,” Jess said.

A confused Sandy responded with, “What?”

“You’re welcome,” Jess said again.

When the penny dropped, Sandy ripped the towel covering her eyes and burst into tears when she saw her daughter standing in front of her.

“I can’t believe it!” screamed Sandy.

“Can you stay? Can you stay forever?” she said as she hugged Jess.

Watching the reunion on screens in the Nova studios, Fitzy wiped a tear from his eyes as he admitted, “I am getting a bit emotional and choked up”.
