Erin Molan has gone into detail about her horror fall that snapped her humerus “entirely off the shoulder”.

The Channel 9 and 2GB star took a tumble down a flight of stairs at her home that she shares with her fiance Sean Ogilvy and their 17-month-old daughter, Eliza.

Molan recounted the incident on Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa show this morning and said it was extremely lucky she wasn’t carrying her child when she fell.

“I got up to go and get her a bottle and I usually carry her down the stairs with me, but I felt a little bit light-headed,” Molan said.

“Since I was pregnant I had low blood pressure and I had to go to hospital a couple of times. So I put her back down in bed, thank goodness.”

Molan blacked out before she fell down the stairs, which helped minimise her injuries, she said.

“My next memory is waking up at the bottom of the stairs. I don’t remember how I got there,” she said.

“The ambos reckon if I’d been conscious I could have done my neck or my spine. It could have been so much worse.”

The sports presenter knew immediately she had been seriously injured, but her partner was less convinced.

“He’s going, ‘You’re fine!’ He actually grabbed my arm to try and pull me up and that’s when he saw my face and the arm and realised,” she said.

“It was a clean break, so I’ve broken the arm bone entirely off the shoulder … The pain, I’m going to put this out there and women will never forgive me, was worse than childbirth.”

Molan spent more than a week in Sydney’s Prince of Wales Hospital before being released, and she told the Nova hosts it would be another three months until she was fully recovered.

“I had scans a couple of days ago and it’s (humerus) still not attached, so I don’t know what’s the go there,” she said. “I have a very healthy dose of perspective. I’ve got a very healthy little girl. And look at the fires, it could be a lot worse.”

It’s been a tough few months for Molan, who recently had an unexpected spotlight shone on her working relationship with NRL immortal Andrew Johns after a Daily Telegraph report revealed he stepped away from the network’s Friday night footy coverage when Molan took over hosting duties.

It led to intense focus on Molan’s abilities as a presenter – and nasty online trolling that left her struggling to sleep and in tears during a live radio interview.

During her Nova interview this morning, Fitzy and Wippa praised the presenter for how she handled herself amid the chaos.

“What you cop sometimes, it gets me so angry, it gets me really, really upset,” Fitzy said to her. “But the way that you handled it this year has been amazing.”

“I tell you what, there’s some mean stuff out, but there’s so much more absolutely lovely stuff and I’m blown away by it, so thank you,” she said.
