Reports claim Em Rusciano was asked to meet with senior management amid scandal
EM RUSCIANO is under fire from the media and those within 2Day FM, but the entertainer is staying defiant.
EM RUSCIANO’s week has not improved, with new reports claiming the embattled radio host faced off with 2DAY FM management on Friday.
Talking to the Daily Mail, an insider claims that Rusciano and her manager were called to a meeting with the head of content at Hit Network, Gemma Fordham, on Friday morning.
It follows a tumultuous week where Rusciano was branded as “toxic” to work with by sources within the radio.
According to the insider, Ed Kavalee, who co-hosts the breakfast show with Rusciano, also “sat in a meeting”.
The outcome of the meetings is unconfirmed, but Rusciano hit out at the media yesterday accusing them of doing a “hatchet job” on her.
The 2Day FM radio personality has been the subject of media scrutiny over the past week after making some explosive comments on Wil Anderson’s Wilosophy podcast about her own radio show.
In the wake of the storm, Rusciano yesterday wrote on Facebook: “Guys, thank you for your concern over the hatchet job some of the Sydney media are attempting on me, but this time last year I was burying my son.
“If I can survive that, I can certainly get through this,” she wrote in the post, which has since been deleted.
Rusciano was 13 weeks pregnant when she suffered a miscarriage last year.
The 2Day FM breakfast star and her co-hosts Ed Kavalee and Grant Denyer have been banned from talking to the media since Rusciano’s Wilosophy podcast was released last week.
In her profanity-laden chat with the comedian, Rusciano blasted the Sydney media as a “bunch of c**ts” and confessed she’s “just not a team player” before throwing her two co-hosts [who joined the start at the start of the year] under the bus.
“And I, all of a sudden, got two co-hosts that I’d never really met or spoken to, and then I’m expected to have this instant chemistry with,” she told Anderson.
“And it was just hectic. And it was The Em Rusciano Radio Show. It was my show, and all of a sudden Ed’s anchoring, the show’s called The 2Day FM Breakfast Show, like I took all these big ego hits.
“I often get put together with people I would never pick to work with, just because of my personality type,” she said on Wilosophy.
News.com.au understands some of Rusciano’s 2Day FM team members were hurt by the comments and several have spoken anonymously to the media since about what it’s really like to work with her.
“She makes it a toxic work environment,” a 2Day FM staffer told news.com.au.
“In all honesty, I actually feel really sad for her.
“She seems really insecure. She portrays this really confident, ‘I think I’m the greatest!’ image but I think it stems from a really deep-seeded insecurity, which is really sad.
“She just doesn’t know how to interact with people. She won’t compromise with anybody. She’s always has to be right.”
Another 2Day FM source told The Daily Telegraphthat staff at the radio station were refusing to work with Rusciano.
“Things are at breaking point. People just cannot work with her energy,” the source told the publication.
Yesterday the man who gave Rusciano her start in radio spoke exclusively to news.com.au about the entertainer’s one big problem.
“She’s a solo performer and her career up until a year-and-a-half ago [when she went back to radio] was all off her own bat,” former Southern Cross Austereo head of content Craig Bruce told news.com.au.
“Everything she did, from the way she developed her audience on social media, the writing that she did for news.com.au, the stage show, all of that was off her own bat.
“I think potentially the challenge for her at the moment is, having come from so many years of self-sufficiency, is now finding herself in a scenario where she has to fold into a team environment.”
