Ed Kavalee admits to kicking his sick wife, Tiff Hall, out of bed

Radio funnyman Ed Kavalee is in the bad books at home – and with his colleagues – after making a shocking request of his wife Tiff Hall.

Ed Kavalee copped an earful from his radio colleagues this morning after they learned he’d kicked his sick wife out of bed for “coughing too much”.

Kavalee, 42, is married to fitness coach Tiff Hall, 37, who gave birth to their second child, daughter Vada, just three weeks ago.

But as he explained on his radio show, 2Day FM’s The Morning Crew with Hughesy Ed and Erin, he wasn’t having his sleep interrupted by his sick wife’s coughing, demanding she sleep on the couch instead.

Tiff Hall gave birth to her second child with Kavalee just over two weeks ago.

While Kavalee tried to keep the tactless move quiet from listeners, co-host Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes – suitably outraged by the confession – wasn’t letting him get away scot-free, outing him on air as he sheepishly tried to defend himself.

“Every now and again you’ve got to take a stand on behalf of others, and our man Ed Kavalee, he’s a day away from winning another Logie with his show Have You Been Paying Attention? and he thinks he’s all that,” he teased as co-host Erin Molan chimed in that he’s been “looking down on others” in the Logies lead-up.

“You forget the people who got him where he is and one of those people is your beautiful wife, Tiff, who’s at home with not one, but two children, and the second one is only a baby, and you have been I believe ordering her out of rooms,” Hughesy continued.

Jumping in to defend himself, Kavalee, who also shares four-year-old son Arnold with Hall, said he’s been looking after their eldest child while Hall does “night feeds” since the birth of Vada on May 30.

“The other night, unfortunately in the hospital, she got a little cold … so she’s been coughing. She’s been coughing a lot. So the other night, she was coughing and coughing and coughing and I had to get up to do breakfast radio and I said, ‘Hey could you go and sleep on the couch please,’” he said.

“This is terrifying,” Molan said as Kavalee went on.

Kavalee’s radio co-hosts were not impressed with his actions.

“She’s coughing like a maniac, she’s gotta get up to do the feeds anyway, so she could take the option of having one night on our beautiful, luxurious couch.”

As Hughesy interrupted to water down the seemingly exaggerated retelling, suggesting Kavalee had actually asked Hall to sleep in the spare room, not the couch, Kavalee corrected him.

“No, there’s a nursery for Vada but she obviously doesn’t sleep in there yet and there’s no bed in there, so the only other room was the couch in the living room, which has a heater, so off she went,” he said.

“She claims it made her cough worse, she claims that she’s just had a baby and it made her pain in her nether regions worse, and I think she’s just banging on a bit,” he added sarcastically.

The radio funnyman was not doing himself any favours this morning.

Summing up, Molan repeated: “So three weeks ago … your incredible wife who had a really tough, long pregnancy, pushed a child out of her nether regions, stitches included … Not getting any sleep, breastfeeding at night, she has another child, and you asked her to leave your bed because she was coughing to sleep on the couch. Is there any part of that that wasn’t true?”

“You’ve left out the bit where she’s still going on about it,” Kavalee quipped in response.

While he didn’t clarify whether the entire recollection was a joke, his colleagues were nonetheless outraged, with Hughesy saying he’d “never forget this story”.

Former Biggest Loser coach Hall has been increasingly candid about her pregnancy and health struggles of late, breaking down in tears over her post-partum struggles in a video just last week.

The celebrity trainer made history in May as the first pregnant woman to appear on the cover of Women’s Health Australia.

After a difficult pregnancy with her first child, Tiff has been very vocal about tackling “bounce back culture”, even giving a Ted Talk on the topic back in 2019.

Speaking with news.com.au last year, she also revealed she’d been battling chronic fatigue syndrome/ME and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) – a blood pressure condition which in her case is genetic.
