Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes’ Logies outrage: ‘Didn’t get invited’

The TV and radio regular – who has previously hosted the awards show – apparently didn’t even score an invite to this year’s event.

Dave 'Hughesy' Hughes rages over Logies snub

Dave “Hughesy” Hughes may have hosted the Logie Awards and presented the opening monologue several times in the past – but it seems that wasn’t enough to score him an invitation to this year’s event.

The comedian and radio and TV regular appeared on The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick on Tuesday, where he launched into a joking tirade about the surprising snub.

“I’ve enjoyed doing the Logies in the past … and look, I wasn’t invited on Sunday night. So, I was just at home, yeah,” Hughes explained.

“So you don’t even get invited if you’re a past host? I thought there’d be a table for you,” host Nick Cody asked.

“I hosted it four times in a row and no invite. No invite! Not even an invite!” responded Hughes, before jokingly shouting: “The amount of losers in that room …! I presented for 20 years in a row and didn’t even get an invite.”

“You’ve got no shows on TV though, why would you get invited?” Brendan Fevola pointed out.

“Mate, I pop up on things. I pop up on things! I’m a pop-up guy!” Hughes hit back.

The Logies snub comes just two weeks after his Sydney breakfast radio show was abruptly axed.

2DayFM released a statement on August 7, announcing Hughesy, Ed and Erin – hosted by Hughes, Ed Kavalee and Erin Molan, had come to an immediate end after four years.

“We’ve loved our time together on 2DayFM Breakfast, however, due to some of our families living in different cities we are unable to commit to 2025, so with a heavy heart we are moving aside so 2DayFM can find the team to take them forward in Breakfast,” the hosts said in a joint statement.

“We are so grateful to Sydney for their support, and to double the number of listeners in three years is something we are immensely proud of, and we will miss each and every one of them.”

Meanwhile, Hughes wasn’t the only well-known face missing from Sunday night’s Logies ceremony, with Today’s Karl Stefanovic – who is believed to be celebrating his 50th birthday in Europe – as well as Sylvia Jeffreys, David Koch and Kerri-Anne Kennerley also conspicuously absent.
