Dave Hughes ‘devastated’ that Brynne Edelsten had no idea he was at her wedding
DAVE Hughes sat in the front row at Brynne Edelsten’s bizarre 2009 wedding to Geoffrey Edelsten. But she recently revealed she had no idea he was there.
YOU’D think you’d know most of the people are your own wedding, right? Well Brynne Edelsten didn’t.
Speaking to Stellar magazine on the weekend, Edelsten said she knew just seven of the guests at her lavish wedding to Geoffrey Edelsten back in 2009.
Hundreds of celebrities were invited to the nuptials which were hosted by Seinfeld’s Jason Alexander and The Nanny’s Fran Drescher.
Among the famous crowd was Dave Hughes and Kate Langbroek, but as Edelsten told Stellar, she had no idea who the duo were at the time.
She only realised Hughes and Langbroek were there on her big day when her new fiance, a stand-up comedian called Brett Hunter, informed her recently.
On his national radio show yesterday afternoon, Hughes said he was hurt that Edelsten didn’t have a clue he was in attendance.
“I’m devastated to know that she didn’t know I was there,” he said to his KIIS FM co-host, Kate Langbroek.
“At one point I thought she did look at me as she was walking down the aisle,” Hughesy joked, “I thought, ‘keep your eyes on the prize, I’m taken’”.
As the two recounted the bizarre wedding, Brynne Edelsten called in to smooth things over with the radio duo.
“Now I recognise you guys,” she told them, “but at the time I really did know anyone in Australia at all, so I didn’t really know you guys”.
Edelsten, who now lives in a share house in Moonee Ponds with three housemates, described her wedding day as “overwhelming” but shot down a suggestion from Hughes that she was in a bad mood on the day.
“I wasn’t in a bad mood. To do it front of all those people you don’t know, it was huge and really overwhelming.”
Shockingly the marriage didn’t work out and the Brynne and Geoffrey Edelsten split in 2014.
But the former Dancing with the Stars contestant has once again found love and assured the KIIS FM hosts that they’re more than welcome to attend her upcoming wedding to Brett Hunter.
“This time we’ll actually know you,” Langbroek joked.
