Chrissie Swan responds to claims she is ‘too posh’ to push her own shopping trolley
CHRISSIE Swan has responded to claims she was above pushing her own shopping trolley after being teased on breakfast radio and shamed in pictures online.
DON’T ever accuse Chrissie Swan of being too posh to push ... her own shopping trolley, that is.
When The Daily Mail ran pictures of the TV and radio host “employing the help of an assistant” to push her small supermarket cart to the car yesterday so she didn’t have to, her breakfast radio co-stars were outraged.
The website even went as far as to publish photos of a string of other ‘more famous’ stars who weren’t above wheeling their own trolley out of the store.
“They include the likes of Hollywood heavyweights Chris Hemsworth, Hugh Jackman, Kim Kardashian and Charlize Theron,” the website proclaimed alongside pictures of them shopping.
“Indeed, the Duchess of Cambridge has also been seen pushing her own trolley on occasion,” they added, extraordinarily.
Sam Pang and Jonathon Brown confronted Swan on their Chrissie, Sam and Browny show on Nova 100 this morning about the alleged diva behaviour.
“What about the arrogant look, just looking back as if to say ‘hurry up you little boy,’” Browny teased after saying Swan was meant to be “a woman of the people”.
“You’re ten metres out in front of him, paying absolutely no attention to him.”
But Swan said she had a perfectly good reason for outsourcing the pushing.
“Can I please butt in here and tell you what happened, can I?” she said, after her co-stars declared she was also “too posh to listen”.
“Yes, somebody pushed my shopping trolley,” she admitted.
“I do my shopping down at Coltivare in Camberwell, the centre of the universe,” she said sarcastically.
“It is posh, it’s the best food and veg there is, I’ve been shopping there for four or five years. The owners, our kids go to school together, I’m there once or twice a week, they insist that somebody pushes my trolley to the car, they insist, and I say, I go, ‘don’t be silly, it’s just here, it’s stupid, it’s embarrassing’. ‘No Chrissie, we’re doing it,’” they responded. “I can’t say no, they are Italian, you can’t.
“It happened but it wasn’t like I said ‘(Hey) you! Bring my vegetables to my Volvo!’ I was in there talking to the owners, who I see all the time, it’s my local, four or five years of history, they always send someone out to push my trolley, always.
“Even the future Queen of England can push her trolley, let me tell you I do more than push my own trolley.”
Sam Pang had the last word though, telling their listeners: “We are here until 9am, in case Chrissie is too posh to stay to the end of the show.”
Case closed.
