Brynne Edelsten reveals why she and Geoff did not have kids

IT’S no secret that Brynne Edelsten was desperate for a baby, but now she has revealed why she and Geoff never followed through with her dream to start a family.

IT’S no secret that Brynne Edelsten has always wanted children, but now she’s revealed why she never followed through with her dreams to have a baby.

In an interview this morning with Jules, Merrick and Sophie on 2DayFM Breakfast, Edelsten said that it was possible for her to have kids with her 71-year-old former husband Geoff, but she chose not to.

“Before Geoff and I separated, we were actually looking to do IVF, we were ready to go,” she told the radio trio. “The thing is, I knew things weren’t right in my marriage and I couldn’t bring a child into the world knowing I wasn’t in a loving relationship.

“It wouldn’t be fair to the child and it wouldn’t be fair to me or Geoff. Quite frankly, I didn’t want that tie to Geoff for the rest of my life. I knew it was over and I wanted out.”

Brynne Edelsten says she chose not to have kids in the end.

In the first episode of her 2012 reality show, My Bedazzled Life, the now 31-year-old revealed her desperation to be a mother.

“This is the year I want to get pregnant,’’ she said. “I want a baby so bad.’

“I really hope he jumps on board because I’d hate to give him an ultimatum.”

But the pair’s marriage ended before Christmas last year, citing “insurmountable issues” and Brynne’s struggle to recover from Geoff’s infidelity.

She adds she will soon break her one of her last ties to Edelsten, by publicly reverting back to her maiden name.

“I’ve actually never legally changed my name, it’s always been Gordon,” she added. “I’ve always gone by Edelsten, and with my career and stuff, I’ll change it when I’m ready.”

The pair have been embroiled in a public war of words in recent weeks after Geoff’s new 24-year-old girlfriend, Gabi Grecko, criticised her for being “tacky” and “rude”.

Brynne later penned an open letter to Grecko after Geoff criticised his former wife for being “obsessed” with money.

“It is hurtful and disappointing that someone you love would say things like that.,” she said. “I always thought Geoff was supportive of my career and he always encouraged me to go for things and I don’t know why it’s different now.

“It’s a bit crazy, you think they would be focusing on their new found love and relationship … and for some reason they are just focusing on me and I don’t, I don’t understand why.”

“To be honest, I thought that maybe it would have been a good thing for Geoff to start dating someone because I thought maybe it would take away some of the tension between us, but it seems to be the opposite, I mean he’s just getting worse and worse.

Geoffrey Edelsten and Brynne Gordon weren’t afraid to go matchy-matchy.

“I don’t know, I thought maybe he’d move on when he met someone but he’s been very nasty. I don’t mind that he’s with someone else, that doesn’t bother me. I don’t want to be with him, so he can be with whoever he likes but I wish that they wouldn’t attack me.”

Brynne told the breakfast show that she is single, despite rumours she was dating nightclub promoter Alex Roberts.

“I’m dating different people and stuff ... I’ve never really been single and I’m trying to enjoy that right now.”

Meanwhile, Grecko was interviewed on KIIS FM this morning and accused Brynne of “playing the victim” and “trying to make me look crazy” in her open letter.

“A week before that when I had been getting a lot of publicity for my fashion faux pas on the news she started calling Geoffrey asking him to come over, asking for advice on guys ... she has begged to be with him several times.

“She’s tried to get back together with him a lot. She always uses his last name for her interviews, and for anything public.”

Grecko also accused Brynne of doing “anything she can do to sink her fingers into his money” but when asked by guest host Rosso if she had been paid by Woman’s Day for her own tell-all interview, she admitted that she had.

Rosso abruptly terminated the interview at that point: “I think we’re done here.”

Geoff then called in from Florida, where he is currently based for business, to offer up his two cents worth.

He said he and Grecko rarely speak about Brynne: “We’ve only had very brief discussions on it, Gabi is allergic to the name Brynne, she hates it. I try not to refer to it at all.

“I just want to move on with my life. I’m very lucky having met Gabi, she’s absolutely superb.

“I’m lucky at my age that a 24-year-old girl finds me attractive, I’m very blessed.”
