Amanda Keller blames health scare on ‘Combination of Spanx and overheating’

AMANDA Keller made headlines around the country two weeks ago when she spent a night in hospital with a suspected heart attack. But now she’s revealed what really happened.

AMANDA Keller has downplayed the health scare which saw her spend a night in hospital after she experienced heart-attack-like symptoms just over two weeks ago.

In a new interview with Matt Simpson and Bruno Bouchet from mattandbruno.com, the WSFM radio star said, “It wasn’t a near-death experience, it was very daggy and normal”.

Keller had just walked the red carpet at the Sydney premiere of Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken when she started to feel ill.

“I think it was a combination of Spanx and overheating and I’d had a sore jaw that day,” said Keller.

“I knew enough, I’d done some work with the Victor Chang Foundation, that females symptoms for heart attacks are different to men ... Sometimes it’s just feeling fluey and muscle aches and sweats and I knew there was something about jaw pain and yes that was one of the symptoms.”

Keller left the movie premiere and when she arrived home her husband Harley Oliver convinced the 52-year-old to go to the hospital for a check-up

“I had some blood tests, I had an ECG and then they gave me a CAT scan just to make sure all was well,” said Keller.

A heart attack was ruled out but Keller spent the night in hospital to be safe which meant she had to skip hosting her WSFM breakfast show with Brendan “Jonesy” Jones the following morning.

Jonesy and Amanda won the award for best FM on air team at the recent ACRA awards.

Then the news about her health scare spread.

“It didn’t occur to me that it would become a media story and suddenly someone texts me and says, ‘You’re the news scroll on Channel 9,’” said Keller.

“It was never an emergency but it was suddenly painted as such ... I started to regret going to hospital and I had to remind myself that going to hospital was the right thing to do.”

The radio star told Matt and Bruno that she found the media reports more stressful than the actual health scare, but at least there was one positive

“I bumped Brangelina off the news,” said Keller.
