Former radio host Abbie Chatfield said she has “never been happier” since quitting her radio show Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield in August this year.

Speaking on Network 10’s The Sunday Project to promote her new role as a travel ambassador for the NT, Chatfield was asked whether leaving the radio gig had been a difficult call to make.

“No. It was so easy. I was thinking about it for about a year. I was just really exhausted,” Chatfield responded.

“I’ve never been happier.

She revealed how much radio had consumed her life, admitting that she’d “had no days off for three months at one point” and that she “ended up doing things just for content”.

Chatfield began hosting the national radio show in January 2022.

At the time she stepped back from the program, she hit back at rumours she was fired from the lucrative gig.

“I don’t want to do radio anymore,” she said, adding that she would continue to do projects with the network, such as her It’s A Lot podcast and Australian Made, a segment that highlights local acts.

“So it definitely wasn’t that I was fired. It’s that I didn’t want to do radio any more.”

“I’m really happy with my decision and super proud of myself for letting this role go,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I simply need to put my energy into projects that bring me joy and that energise me, rather than draining me.

“I have so much on, and daily radio takes up so much time. I simply wasn’t enjoying myself day to day in that environment. This was my decision entirely, and I’m so glad I made it.”

Chatfield, who found fame on The Bachelor in 2019, recently wrapped up a gig as a panellist on TV show The Masked Singer.

Following her high profile split from her reality star boyfriend Konrad Bien-Stephens a little over a year ago, Chatfield also told The Sunday Project hosts she was “trying to have a break from [sharing on social media] who I’m dating as last time I told everyone and it ended a bit tragically”.
