Gotcha! Pickering punks The Project

IT WAS a cock-up of epic proportions on The Project last night that certainly didn’t go unnoticed by viewers.

Carrie Bickmore stunned fans of the Channel Ten show when she held up a piece of her script with a picture of a doodle on the back of it, unaware of the crude drawing.

Not even her co-host Matt White noticed as she kept a straight face while reading a viewer’s response to an earlier, serious story.

But those at home were quick to pick up on the gaffe:

It wasn’t until the lights dimmed at the end of the show and co-host Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitgerald pointed to the rude scribble, that she realised what had happened.

Bickmore took to Twitter after the show to acknowledge the gaffe, saying she was “so embarrassed”.

While it is not known who drew the doodle on the back of the script, one theory is that Bickmore actually drew it herself as a nod to her friend and former co-host Charlie Pickering.

Pickering, who left the show after five years in April this year, revealed after his last episode that he drew the phallic symbol at the end of every show.

Regardless of whether it was a prank or a mistake, it’s definitely one for the blooper reel.
