Police called to The Project host Hamish Macdonald’s house after complaints over wild party
Police were reportedly called to the multimillion-dollar home of the Aussie TV figure amid complaints from neighbours over an hours-long party.
Police were reportedly called to the swanky Sydney home of popular The Project host Hamish Macdonald on Saturday night following complaints over a raucous party.
News.com.au understands furious neighbours called the cops after the revels continued for six hours at the property in trendy Paddington in Sydney’s inner east.
The party was reportedly held to celebrate Macdonald tying the knot with his partner, Jacob Fitzroy, although the marriage has not yet been confirmed by the notoriously private 40-year-old reporter, who deactivated his social media accounts in 2020.
Rumours of the pair’s impending nuptials emerged late last year after Macdonald was spotted wearing a ring on his wedding finger.
He first publicly acknowledged his partner in 2019, when the pair attended the GQ Gentlemen’s Ball in Melbourne and posed for photos on the event’s red carpet, and shared a kiss on video.
Over the years, he has repeatedly clashed with Australian figures over LGBTI rights, and in 2018 cut off The Project panellist Steve Price after a heated argument after Price claimed “there’s not been one case of discrimination against a student because of their sexuality”.
The pair had been discussing the government’s proposed bill to offer LGBTI students greater protection in schools.
In 2019, he also grilled the head of the Australian Christian Lobby for backing a massive crowd-funding push for sacked Wallabies star Israel Folau’s legal proceedings against Rugby Australia and Rugby NSW, after Folau claimed on Instagram that “hell awaits” homosexuals.
And this year, Macdonald slammed Prime Minister Scott Morrison, accusing the PM of “gaslighting” the public over the controversial Religious Discrimination Bill.
“I’ve got to say, if you are gay or trans or any of the other letters of the (LGBTQ) alphabet, you’re pretty sick of getting gaslit by this Prime Minister,” said Macdonald.
“He said this week that he honestly thought this bill would unite people and unite the parliament – give me a break.
“We remember how Scott Morrison voted on same-sex marriage. We remember your position on it. We remember that this bill came about as a response to equal marriage rights in Australia – that’s the origins of this.”
Macdonald’s three-bedroom Paddington home is believed to be worth a cool $3.8 million.
Paddington police were unable to confirm whether officers had attended an address as a result of noise complaints on Saturday night, but told news.com.au noise complaints were a common issue in the area.
