Oil thrown over Jennifer Aniston on New York street
Jennifer Aniston has had thick sludgy oil thrown over her in the middle of New York City – although all wasn’t as it seemed.
Acting superstar Jennifer Aniston was seen getting coated in oil while filming the fourth season of her hit show Morning Wars in New York on the weekend.
She was photographed getting splashed in the sticky black oil and looked appropriately angry as her white shirt and slacks got destroyed.
The Friends star was in character as morning TV show host Alex Levy reported from a climate change protester when one of the other characters flung fake oil at her.
The sludge dripped down her outfit, reported the New York Post’s Page Six section.
The scene was filmed in the Flatiron district of Midtown Manhattan.
And while she grimaced for the cameras, she was later seen smiling as the filming wrapped up.
The oddball drama recently earned a slew of Emmy nominations — including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for both Aniston and her co-star, Reese Witherspoon, 48.
Known as The Morning Show outside of Australia, the show is set in the behind-the-scenes world of a fictional morning news program. It follows rival anchors Levy and Bradley Jackson (Witherspoon), and often tackles timely topics such as the pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
However, it’s also earned a reputation for having some daffy plot turns, such as sending Bradley into space, or sending her running through the United States Capitol on January 6, 2020, to capture riot footage on her mobile phone.
About the more out-there plot lines, Aniston told Variety magazine in 2023, “Wow. Going into space, huh? Personally, I was like, ‘I would never do that! You’ve got to be out of your freaking mind!’”
Aniston has hit the headlines in recent days after she hit out a Republican US vice presidential nominee JD Vance.
An interview he did in 2021 has resurfaced where he said the US was being run by “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too”.
He specifically referred to Vice President Kamala Harris who has no kinds of her own but she is a stepmother to two children.
Aniston, who doesn’t have children, re-posted a clip of the exchange on her Instagram story Thursday, writing she “truly can’t believe this is coming from a potential VP of the United States”.
“All I can say is, Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day,” Aniston continued.
“I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”
Some Republicans have openly advocated for ending IVF treatment as the process – which can indeed lead to children – can also involve destroying embryos.
Mr Vance then replied and said it was “disgusting” that Aniston was referring to his daughter who is two years old.
“If (Aniston) had fertility problems, as I said in that speech, I would try everything I could to try to help her because I believe families and babies are a good thing,” he continued.
