THEY are chaotic TV family whose course of true happiness never runs smoothly.

And in the case of TV’s favourite family, the Proudmans, brace yourself for more twists and turns this season because we all know Offspring never turns out how we expect.

Think Patrick’s death, season four, and yes it still hurts.

And with season seven about to hit out TV screens tomorrow, viewers can expect more of the same chaos, heart-wrenching decisions and agonising life moments that we’re all used to.

When we left our favourite family last season, things were looking up.

After the unexpected death of Proudman patriarch Darcy, the siblings learned they had a secret half-brother Wil.

Nina also seemed to be in a good place — for the most part — as she and Harry were happily looking into their future.

Cherie and Clegg got married and headed off into the sunset to go travelling while Billie was stoked her husband Mick arrived home on a visit from London.

Proudman matriarch Geraldine decides to move on from Darcy with another beau and it all looked like things were going peachy.

But like all good things, they can’t last. And with that in mind here’s what we can expect from season seven.

GERALDINE WILL CAUSE UPHEAVAL

In the first show we see Geraldine calling a Geraldine Day where she wants her whole family around for a big announcement.

Nina knows she has an agenda and whatever the news is the Proudman children and partners don’t take it well with Geraldine telling them to stop acting like babies.

Is it a health issue, is she running away?

Let’s assume she’s selling the house and spending the rest of her days travelling leaving her hapless children on their own.

BILLIE WILL ABANDON NINA

The inseparable sisters have been through a lot and Nina was a large part of the reason Billie decided to stay in Melbourne while Mick pursued his musical career overseas.

But will the sisterhood last?

With Billie announcing she’s heading to London to be with Mick, that leaves Nina without a crutch and single teen mum Brodie, who she took under her wing in Mick’s absence, without her guidance.

JIMMY AND ZARA HIT ROCK BOTTOM

The married couple seemed to have it all worked out with two babies and Zara studying hard for her medical degree.

But in typical Proudman fashion things don’t go to plan and she confessed to sleeping with someone else during last season.

While Jimmy appears to forgive his wife, will they end happily ever after?

NINA WILL STILL PINE FOR PATRICK

The women of Australia went into collective grieving when the writers decided to kill off the father of Nina’s unborn child, Patrick, played by Matt Le Nevez at the end of season four.

Nina still didn’t get over it despite dating (and breaking up with) midwife Leo.

Patrick Brammel played Leo who never stood a chance against Nina’s dead lover.

Then she learns there is some frozen sperm belonging to Patrick and decides she wants to give daughter Zoe a full sibling, all while trying to decide if she should give new suitor Harry a go.

Luckily for Harry things don’t go to plan and Nina decides to take the plunge with him.

But despite several later appearances in Nina’s head, Patrick won’t be coming back for good, sorry ladies.

What a dad: Dr Patrick Reid appeared in Nina’s imagination in several episodes after he died.

NINA WILL STRUGGLE

With her boss Clegg off travelling, Dr Nina Proudman is practically running the hospital, which is sure to result in some sort of chaos or disaster.

And with her sister announcing she’s leaving, she not only loses her best support but her sounding board and confidant.

THERE WILL BE A CRISIS

Whether it’s another family death, unexpected baby or long lost sibling you can guarantee there will be some sort of disaster bound to upset the apple cart.

Will Billie really leave Nina forever? Will Geraldine cut back on the wine and get her act together? Will Jimmy be left holding the babies?

Whatever it is you can be sure it will be big.

THE UNEXPECTED WILL HAPPEN

It’s the Proudmans, so we know things will never run smoothly.

With Cherie and Clegg away and Nina’s biological father off the scene, it’s only a matter of time before another family member will ultimately come back over some crisis — or to cause another.

Offspring season seven premieres on Channel 10, Wednesday, 8.30pm
