Neighbours premiere date and first trailer revealed
The Aussie soap will be returning sooner than we thought, and we’ve got our first glimpse at what’s coming – including a Hollywood star on Ramsey Street.
It’s almost time to return to Ramsey Street.
The premiere for the new chapter of Neighbours has been announced, with the Aussie soap to first air on Monday 18th September on Amazon Freevee and Network 10, and stream ad-free on Prime Video a week later.
Fans have also been given their first glimpse at the upcoming series with a 40-second trailer featuring plenty of familiar faces – and some new ones, including Hollywood star Mischa Barton.
The iconic TV show ended its 37-year run in July last year after its production company, Fremantle, failed to find it a new home.
However, just months after its star-studded finale aired, it was given a lifeline by Amazon Freevee and Prime Video and production got underway in Melbourne earlier this year.
In recent months, the cast of the new instalment of the series has been unveiled – which includes British-born actress Barton.
She had her breakout roles alongside Hugh Grant in Notting Hill and Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense, and later went on to become one of the biggest TV stars of the early 2000s, appearing as Marissa Cooper on the hugely popular teen series, The OC.
In April, Amazon confirmed in a statement that Barton, 37, will have guest appearances on Neighbours as Reece, an American who is new to the area and not quite who she appears to be.
“I’m excited to be part of this iconic show’s next chapter, and I am really looking forward to being back in Australia, a place I know and love,” said Barton.
“I think the character of Reece is going to be a great role for me to explore and play with.”
The new series will also star Alan Fletcher, Annie Jones, Georgie Stone, Jackie Woodburne, Rebekah Elmaloglou, Riley Bryant, Ryan Moloney, Sara West, Stefan Dennis, Tim Kano, and Xavier Molyneux as series regulars.
April Rose Pengilly, Guy Pearce, Ian Smith, Jodi Gordon, Melissa Bell, and Mischa Barton will feature as guest stars.
