Why Studio 10’s Joe Hildebrand got anti-wrinkle injections live on air
HE doesn’t like needles and he’s a 39-year-old male, so why did Joe Hildebrand get anti-wrinkle injections on Studio 10 this morning?
STUDIO 10’S Joe Hildebrand went under the needle live on air this morning, getting Botox injections as part of a “face-over”.
“I think its long overdue,” he told news.com.au of his decision to have the cosmetic procedure. “I know as a male in the television industry, there’s constant pressure on me to look good and I don't think women really understand that, but for me I find unless I maintain my young, effervescent, evergreen face then I’m just not going to last long in this industry. So this is the sort of pressure that men are under.”
All jokes aside, the 39-year-old said he actually wasn’t sure why he got the anti-wrinkle injections this morning.
“I have no idea, I don’t even go to the meetings, people just keep deciding for me,” he said. “I can only assume it’s part of a long running campaign on this show to find new and inventive ways to humiliate me live on national TV.
“Regular viewers of the show will know that this is a bar that we are continually setting ever higher.”
Hildebrand received five injections in his forehead from Dr. Paul Gerarchi of The Face Institute to remove what co-host Sarah Harris called his “quizzical ironic eyebrow thing”.
Dr Gerarchi said over the last five years anti-wrinkle injections for men have grown from “the occasional man” to 15 to 20 per cent of his business.
When asked how the procedure felt, in typical bloke fashion Hildebrand replied: “It feels like someone is sticking a needle in my head.”
We can’t wait to see your transformation Joe.
