TV host urged to be fired over ‘racist’ comment to co-star

After a TV host made awkward comments to his co-star about her ‘alpaca’ hair, viewers have called for him to be sacked.

UK TV host Eamonn Holmes faces calls to be sacked after making ‘racist’ and inappropriate comments about a co-star’s hair.

Comparing Dr Zoe Williams’ hair to an “alpaca”, Holmes then went on to say he wanted to touch it.

The remarks have led to huge backlash online, with many urging UK network ITV to fire him.

“Your hair reminds me of an alpaca today, you just want to pet it, don’t you?” he said.

“It’s very alpaca-ish.”

Laughing awkwardly, Williams replied: “Don’t touch my hair!”

Co-host Ruth Langsford then added: “Yeah don’t touch the hair! Thank you Zoe see you later.”

Outrage quickly erupted online, with one user writing: “Absolutely disgusting racist behaviour from @EamonnHolmes when @DrZoeWilliams is trying to do the job that she does so well. @ITV @thismorning he needs to be SACKED.”

Another added: “Not @EamonnHolmes comparing a black woman’s hair to that of an Alpaca on national TV … and that he wants to “pet” it … @ITV look forward to my complaint in writing.”

A third user wrote: “@thismorning How can @EamonnHolmes @RuthieeL compare @DrZoeWilliams hair to an alpaca, she is a whole Dr talking about health and you make it about hair.

“It’s not right. 5 minutes later you talking about body confidence. So wrong!!! Micro aggression #microaggression not funny.”

“Just a normal day on @ITV and @ThisMorning with Eamonn Holmes telling a woman of colour her hair “reminds him of an alpaca”. Nothing to see here.” a fourth expressed.

Shortly after, Holmes apologised on Twitter.

Telling his one million followers: “Hey everyone out there, if my attempt at being humorous with my friend @DrZoeWilliams was misjudged I am mortified and humbly apologise to anyone who was offended.”
