Today host Karl Stefanovic makes dig at Brooke Boney after big night hosting ARIAs
Today show host Karl Stefanovic couldn’t help but make fun of his colleague after a big night out at the awards night.
Karl Stefanovic has taken a cheeky swipe at Today presenter Brooke Boney after her big night hosting the ARIA awards.
The biggest night for Australian music was hosted at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Wednesday, co-hosted by Boney and comedian Tommy Little.
While mentioning Genesis Owusu’s Struggler won Album Of The Year on the morning show on Thursday, Stefanovic couldn’t help but take a dig at his colleague who was noticeably absent from work.
“Brooke Boney will tell us more about what went down at the event later this morning,” he said.
“Or will she? That album best describes how Brooke is this morning. The struggler.”
The 36-year-old newsreader turned heads at the awards ceremony on Wednesday night while stepping out in a white gown with a plunging neckline.
She said the dress was homage to Kylie Minogue’s 2002 red carpet look in the same shade of white and deep neckline though covered in diamantes.
Australia’s pop princess took home her first ARIA Award in more than 20 years on Wednesday night with her dance track Padam Padam winning Best Pop Release.
Looking bright and bushy-tailed, Boney joined the show at 7am but said she “can’t promise any huge performances”, as she was “a little bit tired”.
When poked by Stefanovic to share what happened at the after-party and praising her for being a “little party animal”, Boney said she would “never tell”.
Perth’s own Troye Sivan went home with four gongs for his pop single Rush, which has no doubt been declared the song of the summer.
Wearing a sleek black suit, Sivan declared how proud he was to be nominated in the same category with Minogue at next year’s Grammy Awards.
“I’m so proud to be Australian, I’m so excited for the future of Australian music,” he said.
“Kylie and I nominated for the same category in the Grammys and it makes me so, so proud and I am so excited and thank you all so much for everything.”
