STUDIO 10 co-hosts Sarah Harris and Jessica Rowe were given the creepy-crawlies live on-air this morning when they were made perform the viral “cockroach challenge”.
In case you missed it, a clip from a Japanese game show went nuts online this week where two contestants stand at opposite ends of a plastic tube and hold it in their mouths.
There’s a cockroach in the tube — and the contestants have to try blow the critter down the other’s throat.
“I find there’s nothing better than a live show,” Studio 10 co-host Joe Hildebrand said.
“And so Sarah and Jess — I don’t know if you know about this — but your contracts have been slightly re-drawn ... You are now going to have to have the cockroach-off — right here, right now.”
That’s when a replica of the clear tube was wheeled out on stage — and instead of having just one cockroach inside, there were four.
“It’s alive! It’s alive!” a horrified Sarah squealed.
“There’s only meant to be one!” said Jess.
Both hosts stepped up to the plate and wrapped their lips around the tube.
While Jess went full throttle and managed to send one flying out of the tube at Sarah’s face, they struggled to get the rest of the little critters moving.
“Because they’re alive their little feet are hanging at the bottom of the thing,” Sarah said.
After a few more huffs and puffs — the pair agreed it was a tie.
