Seven’s Sunrise attempts TV show world first
AFTER teasing a breakfast TV “world-first” yesterday, Seven’s Sunrise revealed the gruelling logistical nightmare the team will tackle next week.
IN a world first for a television show, Sunrise will be reporting live from five different countries in just five days.
Kicking things off in Dubai next week, Seven’s breakfast show will then hit London, New York and the Canadian side of the Niagara Falls, before closing out the five-day stint in Cancun, Mexico. That’s a whopping 39,686km, seven flights and 48h, 22m flying time in total.
“In the biggest week in Sunrise history, we are also lining up the world’s biggest stars — don’t say we never do anything for you,” co-host Sam Armytage teased. “A-list talent from all over the globe will be part of our extraordinary trip.”
Kochie then revealed that big names Ed Sheeran, Phil Collins, Adam Lambert and Hugh Jackman will join the team on their round the world trip.
Jamie Lawson, Simple Plan, Aston Merrygold and Seal will also appear.
“It is going to be one of our most star-studded weeks in Sunrise history. Five countries, five days and the countries are not even close together,” Kochie said.
Armytage added: “How are we going to do it, I hear you ask? This is a logistical nightmare, you should see the itinerary but it’s taken months of top secret planning from a small very hard working covert team of producers.”
Kochie promised viewers they will be treated to a “behind-the-scenes” look at the show throughout the week. “Every day next week we’ll show you what’s really going on behind the scenes, Kardashian style ... you will see how we get to each place and what it takes to broadcast three hours of live television from five countries in five days. All the raw, uncut video.”
