Sarah Harris names Studio 10’s best and worst celeb guests
To celebrate Studio 10’s 2000th episode, Sarah Harris has opened up about her most embarrassing on-air moment and the best and worst guests.
Sarah Harris has named the best and worst celebrity guests who have appeared on Studio 10.
Harris, who has been with the show since it launched in 2013, spilled the beans during a chat with news.com.au to celebrate Studio 10’s 2000th episode.
She also spoke about the day she almost accidentally killed herself on camera and revealed which former co-star’s departure hit her the hardest.
Studio 10 is this week celebrating 2000 episodes. Did you ever think it would last this long?
No, I didn’t. In fact, I remember the first time we walked out of those doors in our original studio … Joe Hildebrand turned to me and went, ‘oh well, I guess we can’t back out now.’ And then we walked on out and it’s just been such a whirl ever since. It’s been the most intense ride.
Since 2013 you’ve done more than 7000 hours of live TV on Studio 10. Have you had any embarrassing moments?
When I started out as a young journalist, I always wanted to move to New York and work for the New York Times and apparently the New York Times awarded me the ‘Darwin Award’ after I went to shoot myself in the face with a nail gun in a live magic trick (you can check out the footage in the video at the top of this article). That was probably the most stupid thing I’ve done on the show. The only person who came to my rescue that day was Jess Rowe. Joe Hildebrand, who’s supposed to be my best mate, sat there with eyes as wide as saucers laughing, thinking, ‘this is going to be the best moment ever’. I owe my life to Jessica Rowe, she really did save me that day.
You’ve had thousands of guests on the show over the years. If you had to narrow it down to a best and worst, who would they be?
Best guest ever was Scott Wolf from Party of Five. I had a poster of him on my wall when I was a little girl and we had him on the show. They say never meet your heroes, but he was so delightful. Gorgeous, charming, happy to play, he was just heaven.
The worst, I don’t like to bag people, but the worst one for me was Germaine Greer. I still love her but she was very hard work and she was always going to be hard work because that’s who she is. She was hard work but she has a huge brain and she keeps you on your toes.

You’ve had a few co-stars come and go, including Jessica Rowe, Joe Hildebrand and Kerri-Anne Kennerley. Which of their departures hit you the hardest?
Joe. That was super hard. We started the show together and not only are we mates on air, we’re mates in real life. When Joe actually left the show I said to him, ‘are we going to be best friends anymore?’ And he said to me, ‘you know what, we’re not best friends because we work on a TV show, we’re best friends who work on a TV show.’ Jess was another huge supporter of mine and we’re still great mates, she’s a beautiful soul. They’re all special though. I still keep in touch with Ita.
You’ve done 2000 episodes. How much longer do you think the show will last?
I don’t have a crystal ball, but the shows are feeling really, really good. We put a lot of TV together with a really small team. Everyone is hands on deck.
I think in this game you have to be pretty easy going about it and be grateful for every day that you have. I’d love it to last forever. It’s one of those shows where you genuinely are excited to get up and go to work each morning.
There’s a real camaraderie on our show. You always hear about TV families but we’re a family that’s been through a lot of stuff together. Not just the evolution of the show and the changing of co-hosts and things like that, but personally we’ve all been through some really tough times and gorgeous times. I had two beautiful boys … Ange (Bishop) lost her husband, KAK lost her husband and we lost Jono (Coleman). It’s been an emotional rollercoaster but we’ve all held each other firm through it. That’s really nice and that’s why I hope it goes forever. As long as there are NutriBullets to be sold … (laughs).
