Sarah Harris and husband Tom Ward expecting their first child
STUDIO 10’s Sarah Harris has excitedly announced she is expecting her first child.
STUDIO 10’s Sarah Harris has excitedly announced she and husband Tom Ward are expecting their first child.
The Channel Ten presenter revealed the news during the show this morning, as she and her co-hosts were showered in glitter.
“I’m 15 weeks,” the 33-year-old said. “I’ve been trying to hide it very unsuccessfully because the audience keep picking up on it!”
When asked how she was feeling, Harris replied: “For the first 12 weeks I was really, really cranky, really hormonal, and a bit icky but I feel better now.”
Harris said the baby is due on Christmas Day and she is yet to find out the sex, but is “dying to know”.
While she says she doesn’t mind whether she has a boy or a girl, there is one thing she’s hoping for when her new bundle arrives.
“I’m dying for it to be a ginger,” she said, referring to her husband’s red hair. “I’d love a little ginger baby.”
“I feel like it’s got a couple of fairy godmothers and a fairy godfather and a little family that it’s been born in to,” she said of her co-hosts.
The couple tied the knot after five years together in an intimate ceremony in Sydney in July, 2014 before celebrating their honeymoon in Spain.
In December the popular TV co-host opened up about her hopes of becoming a mum, saying she’s so clucky that the mere sight of a baby makes her “go nuts”.
“I think it came on maybe six months before I got married,” she said. “It’s like someone flicked a switch and suddenly I’ve gone nuts.
“I am so clucky. I want one. I always thought I’d like kids one day, but it has become quite primal. It’s almost like my ovaries are aching for a child.”
Harris said her Studio 10 team had been incredibly supportive, with her co-hosts Ita Buttrose and Jessica Rowe reassuring her that she could make both career and family work at the same time.
“My boss is the same. Rob (McKnight) believes it takes a village to raise a child and told me we’ll work it all about when it happens. That was definitely a weight off.”
Congratulations Sarah!
