Peter Stefanovic and Sylvia Jeffreys marry in Kangaroo Valley
IT’S the day after the biggest media wedding of the year but that didn’t mean Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic’s guests were going to stop partying.
THE wedding of Australia’s television sweethearts Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic was a tightly guarded affair and the day after the beautiful ceremony, the couple’s guests have continued the party.
Wedding celebrations continued on today with guests returning to the gorgeous Ooralba Estate in Kangaroo Valley to celebrate with the newly married pair.
One of Jeffreys’ bridesmaids Maggie Palmer posted a photo of the group today captioning the shot “Morning after the night before”.
And the bride herself was looking fresh faced after undoubtably partying hard last night.
The groom himself took to Instagram today to celebrate the momentous occasion with drone footage showing him popping a magnum bottle of champagne with everyone who attended cheering in the background.
One of the highlights of the night seemed to be when Stefanovic’s brothers Karl and Tom took to the stage to ‘perform’ their iconic groomsmen speech.
And, what a performance they gave.
In audio obtained by the Daily Mail, Karl can be heard performing his own version of the Oasis hit Champagne Supernova.
The Today Show host covered everything from Jeffreys being “such a bloody find” to one day finding her new husband “in a Beirut jail like Tara”.
Karl had the audience laughing their heads off as he commented on Jeffreys’ “great behind” to their mum Jenny worrying Pete was gay for a long time.
The journalist even went as far as saying his younger brother was “better than Ray Martin” before boasting about the famous Stefanovic family.
“We got beautiful heads, we don’t pay for s**t, agents deliver it,” he sang.
Plenty of guests took to Instagram to celebrate the beautiful day with shots showing
media personalities travelled from all across Australia and even as far as London to celebrate the Nine Network duo’s nuptials.
Pictured partying with champagne glasses in hand were Nine’s Europe correspondent Amelia Ballinger, who had travelled from England for the celebration, Perth presenter Tracy Vo, Brisbane newsreader and bridesmaid Alison Ariotti, and Today presenters Richard Wilkins and Lisa Wilkinson.
In one selfie taken by Sunrise reporter Shaun White, the groom’s brother Karl Stefanovic is seen executing a cheeky photobomb.
Guests also shared more candid pictures of the couple laughing and enjoying the beautiful ceremony in the hills of Kangaroo Valley.
Appearing on Weekend Today on Sunday morning, Peter Fitzsimons, who was in attendance along with wife Lisa Wilkinson, detailed some beautiful moments from the ceremony.
“It was a terrific wedding and there was so much love,” he said. “There were so many wonderful speeches.”
Fitzsimons recalled the moment an “industrial strength drone” came buzzing over the hills to capture photographs of the ceremony, and said the bride was unfazed.
“There was so much love, there was so much joy, Sylvia then just turns and gives it a wave,” he said, adding: “Then some damn helicopter came from somewhere!”
Fitzsimons said the couple shared touching anecdotes from their first meetings in the Channel 9 carpark in 2014 when “their eyes met across the bitumen”.
“I cannot overstate the joy of it,” he said. “And talk about the dress!”
Jeffreys opted for a wedding dress with a lengthy train believed to be a custom design from one of the journalist’s favourite designers Rebecca Valance.
Jeffrey’s bridesmaids wore light pink, off the shoulder gowns while the groomsmen went for classic black tuxedos.
It was a star-studded affair, with many of the pair’s Nine colleagues spotted at the event — and former Neighbours star and singer Holly Valance a surprise guest. Valance is now London-based, where she lives with billionaire husband, property developer Nick Candy.
Jeffreys posted the above picture on Instagram captioning it: ‘Best day of our lives’.
And the pair’s friend and colleague, Nine journalist Airlie Walsh, shared a stunning photo taken just moments after the couple tied the knot — with their Today show workmates Richard Wilkins and Lisa Wilkinson looking on:
Fellow Nine presenter Ben Fordham has also shared a picture of the happy couple on social media:
Jeffreys and Stefanovic married at the picturesque Ooralba Estate in Kangaroo Valley which can be reserved for $6,500 a night.
Pete’s older brother Karl was photographed arriving solo after the The Daily Telegraph reported the Today host’s wife of 21 years Cassandra Thorburn was left off the guest list and Stefanovic’s new girlfriend Jasmine Yarbrough was reportedly banned from attending by Sylvia Jeffreys.
Despite the pair’s attempts at keeping the whole wedding under wraps, Stefanovic was photographed on Thursday in Kangaroo Valley, a picturesque town two hours south of Sydney.
Plenty of Australian celebrities and media personalities attended the joyous occasion with many of the couple’s friends and family heading to a Kangaroo Valley pub The Friendly Inn last night to prepare for the big day.
The soon-to-be married couple appeared smitten with each other the day before their wedding with Stefanovic hugging his blushing bride.
Stefanovic’s older brother Karl managed to grab a flight back down to Sydney yesterday after spending some time broadcasting from flood-ravaged Brisbane.
Singer and former N eighbours star Holly Valance was photographed having a drink with friends.
Richard Wilkins was also in attendance as well as sports presenter Tim Gilbert and his wife Josie.
Jenny Stefanovic, mum to the two Stefanovic boys also headed to the pub for some drinks.
The couple said their vows at the luxurious Ooralba retreat.
The rural retreat boasts seven bedrooms, olive groves, orchards and an outdoor pool.
The property is available to rent for $6,500 a night.
Stefanovic and Jeffreys met back in 2014 when they were both working on The Today Show.
While travelling Europe last year, Stefanovic announced he had proposed to his girlfriend while they were in Bordeaux, posting to Instagram to celebrate the occasion.
“Asked my missus to be my wife and she said yes @sylviajeffreys,” he wrote.
