Larry Emdur’s email to Seven staff post-Gold Logie win leaked
Larry Emdur has been on a high since taking out the Gold Logie. Now, the Seven host’s email to staff shows the celebrations are still in full swing.
Larry Emdur triumphed with a Gold Logie on Sunday night following four decades onscreen, mostly spent flying under the radar as the nicest (Logie-less) bloke on Australian television.
The Channel 7 co-host, 59, has been on a high ever since, first pulling off a hilarious and touching winning speech, then fulfilling his promise to get his butt tattooed live on-air Monday morning.
Now, Emdur’s email to Morning Show staff shows the celebrations are still in full swing, with The Chase Australia host throwing a pizza party at the network’s office in Sydney today.
Fittingly, Emdur has enlisted Happy As Larry Pizza Truck to cater lunch for up to 150 employees. His shout.
“Hi everyone, Larry here. My arse is OK, thanks for asking in the lift, in the foyer, in the carpark, in the studio, in the coffee shop,” Emdur began the email seen by news.com.au.
“I know this Logie belongs to you all, it’s been a huge team effort and I know, willingly or unwillingly, most of you were roped into the Logies campaign.
“I can only think of one way to thank you all, all at once. PIZZA!!!!! Please leave your lunch at home, I’ve organised a pizza truck.
“Even if you voted for Andy Lee, please grab a pizza,” he concluded.
Just days before the Logies, when Channel 10 celeb Robert Irwin was considered a hot favourite to win the Gold, Emdur sat down for a candid interview with news.com.au and told us he didn’t like his own chances of winning.
“I’ll happily get all the nominees name initials tattooed on my arse on The Morning Show live on Monday [if I do win],” he told us.
A man of his word, Emdur got inked on national TV after his triumphant victory, as co-host Kylie Gillies watched on in tears of laughter.
The tattoo design featured the shape of a Logie trophy with the other nominees’ initials engraved on it: Asher Keddie, Andy Lee, Sonia Kruger, Tony Armstrong, Robert Irwin and Julia Morris.
“I love this tattoo. This for me will remind me forever of a beautiful night,” Emdur said on-air.
Emdur also took home the Silver Logie for Most Popular Presenter at this year’s Logies, both signalling his first ever Logie nominations.
“Wow. Forty years I’ve been in this business, 40 years,” Emdur said in his Gold Logie speech.
“For 25, maybe 30 times I’ve sat in this room and thought, ‘I wonder what it’s like sitting on this fancy table down here.’
“I love this business so much. I love being in TV, I love being on TV and I’ve never done anything else and I’ve never wanted to do anything else.
“Whether it’s sitting on The Morning Show couch interviewing Lindy Klim who has invented a new product which is a face mask for vulvas, or a 150kg truck driver who has won on The Price Is Right, dry humping me.”
Emdur’s wife Sylvie told news.com.au at the Logies that she was “super proud” of her husband, and confessed that he already had a tattoo on one bum cheek so she’d like him to get the other one tattooed to even the score.
