KARL Stefanovic has finally opened up about what really went down amid the Ubergate scandal and admitted he was pretty mad at his brother.

KARL Stefanovic has spoken candidly about the infamous leaked Uber phone call between he and brother Peter, admitting Nine bosses “weren’t happy” with the pair afterwards.

Earlier this year, the Stefanovics were forced to publicly apologise to their co-workers and Nine bosses after Peter’s Uber driver overheard their private phone call and sold the story to a tabloid magazine.

Speaking to KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O this morning, the Today host confirmed he had been “p**sed off” with Peter, before joking that he hadn’t “spoken to him since”.

“He is extremely apologetic … it was just one of those things, but apologies for any offence caused,” he said.

“And was there a fallout at Channel Nine from that?” Jackie asked him.

“Rightly so, Channel Nine weren’t happy, and upstairs weren’t happy, and that’s fair enough. Whatever comes out of my mouth I’m responsible for, and if that brings the company into disrepute, that’s on me, I accept full responsibility,” Karl told her.

Karl also revealed that when the s**t began to hit the fan as the Uber story broke, he’d called Kyle Sandilands for advice.

“I said, ‘Mate, this is just a bad place I’m in right now, a lot of other stuff’s going on too …’ And he said to me, ‘Mate, I don’t think it’s a big deal, you have to say sorry, blah blah, but when you’re losing advertisers, that’s when you’ve gotta worry’,” he recalled.

The private phone call in March was reportedly heard by an Uber driver while Peter Stefanovic and his wife - Today newsreader Sylvia Jeffreys - were in the back of his car late at night, speaking to Karl on speakerphone.

According to the driver, Karl vented his frustration at Today co-host Gardner, who he accused of “sitting on the fence” and not having enough opinions. The driver told New Idea magazine that Karl became angry as he declared that she needed to “step up” if she “wanted to stay on the show.”

The article went on to claim that during the trip, Peter complained at length that he “hated his job” and would often express his frustrations to Jeffreys. He also reportedly told Karl it was “sucking the life out of him.”
