JESINTA Campbell has revealed the challenges she faces as she attempts to build her television career.
Campbell, 24, said she has got to the final two for big roles on television, only to be told she has just missed out.
“I would really love to have more opportunities in television but it’s been really hard for me,” the Gold Coast girl said.
“I get told all the time that I’m too young, and when I first started out people would say you can’t do the weather because you don’t relate to mums and dads at home.
“Or you can’t do this because you’re not married and don’t know anything about relationships.
“But I hope that my actions and my words have kind of proved all the TV executives wrong.
“I actually do deserve a spot on TV.
“I feel like I do have things of substance to say, not just the ability to talk about fashion and beauty.”
Campbell has impressed with her considered opinions on a segment on Channel 9’s Today show and she is ready to take that extra step.
“It’s been a good platform for me to be able to speak about things close to my heart, but also speak about things that maybe haven’t been on my radar.
“It’s a great challenge for me, to try and be diplomatic, but express my own opinion on the topic.”
Campbell was in Melbourne at the David Jones marquee at the Caulfield Cup, before heading on a holiday overseas with her fiancee Lance Franklin.
