Don’t give up your day job, Karl! Today co-host teams up with Lisa to recreate Pretty Woman scenes

TODAY show co-hosts Karl and Lisa stepped into the shoes of a lonely millionaire and a fiery sex worker to recreate famous scenes from Pretty Woman. And it wasn’t pretty.

TODAY show co-hosts Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson stepped into the shoes of a lonely millionaire and a pretty young sex worker this morning.

It was all to mark 25 years since the iconic film Pretty Woman was released, with the breakfast television duo recreating a few of the romantic comedy’s memorable scenes.

And as film actors, Karl and Lisa make great TV presenters.

The movie’s original stars, Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, needn’t worry about being upstaged.

While some might say Karl’s dramatic prowess left a little to be desired and Lisa’s American accent needed some work, the skit received mostly positive praise on social media from viewers.

“I laughed so hard I woke my sleeping hubby,” one fan said.

“Not bad at the acting caper, Lisa!” another wrote.

The host’s tribute included the famous shopping scene, where Roberts’ character Vivienne confronts the sales assistant who had turned her away the day before, delivering the memorable line: “Big mistake!”

Karl and Lisa also recreated the jewellery box scene and the movie’s romantic conclusion on a rooftop, including a cameo from a loud crow. There was no kiss at the end — just a polite hug.

“You can’t beat the on-screen chemistry” newsreader Sylvia Jeffreys politely declared.

Earlier this week, the original main cast of the hit film reunited on the American Today show to mark the 25-year milestone.
