Close call: Sunrise only just make it to NY

THE Sunrise team have only just made it to the studio in New York in time to present their Australian breakfast television show after a three hour flight delay from London.
Sunrise is attempting to telecast five live shows from five different countries on five consecutive days.
After completing Dubai on Monday and London on Tuesday, Wednesday’s show was meant to be broadcast from New York. However technical problems with their flight meant a three hour delay in London, seriously putting into doubt their ability to make it to the studio in New York on time.
After completing their make-up in-flight, the Sunrise team consisting of presenters David Koch, Samantha Armytage, Natalie Barr and Mark Beretta did make it to the Rockefella Centre just in time to start the show.
“It’s a city that never sleeps and we haven’t had much either — about 45 minutes,” Armytage said as Sunrise went live at 6am. We made it!!!! @sunriseon7 on air now from New York!,” Beretta tweeted.
The next stops the Canadian side of Niagara Falls (Thursday) and Cancun, Mexico (Friday).
The Seven Network show’s executive producer, Michael Pell told AAP before he flew out that the network had made contingency plans should any or all of the hosts not make any destination.
One plan is to have The Morning Show hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies available in Seven’s Sydney studios as back-up.
“We do have back-up flights if any of the flights get cancelled, but there is a huge risk and we’ll have people waiting back in the studio every day, which we normally do,” Pell said.
“Kylie and Larry are there and we have an early morning newsreader as well, but I expect us to be live every day from somewhere.”
