Brooke Boney makes candid admission about dating life on Today show
A notoriously private Brooke Boney has made a candid admission about her personal life on Today this morning, making a revealing comment about the people she dates.
Brooke Boney has made a rare admission about her dating life on-air this morning.
The Today entertainment reporter was presenting her showbiz report on the Nine breakfast program Thursday, which featured a TV interview of Jennifer Aniston speaking about her own dating struggles on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The Friends actress could be seen discussing her long-running friendship with fellow movie star Adam Sandler, claiming he often weighs into her love life with the question, “What are you doing!?”, in reference to unsuitable suitors.
Boney, 35, added her own commentary to Aniston’s revelation: “To be fair, my friends also sometimes say that to me,” she said, before turning to Today host Karl Stefanovic, who echoed Aniston’s comment, “What are you doing!?”
“I know, you’ve said that [to me] a couple of times Karlos,” she added, laughing.
Little is known about Boney’s private life.
In March 2020, she casually revealed she had a “boyfriend” who lived in the UK, though had never revealed his identity or shared photos of him on social media.
By September that year, it was evident the pair had gone their separate ways after Boney confirmed she was single again in an ambush segment featuring her mother, Leonie, who appeared on Today talking about how she wanted her daughter to date a “decent bloke”.
On a more serious note, a month later Boney penned a heartfelt piece for Sydney Morning Herald pondering the decision to freeze her eggs following her break-up, which she revealed had been a years-long relationship.
“There’s still the stigma of being single in your 30s, with people assuming you can’t find love. Instead, maybe the decision to freeze eggs should be seen through the prism of its more likely causes: prioritising career; making decisions based on values; waiting for the right person; or simply leaving options open,” Boney wrote.
In the months after writing the initial article, Boney went through the process of freezing her eggs, which she spoke about in detail with the publication in September 2021
“I knew that you were born with all the eggs that you are ever going to have but I didn’t realise how quickly fertility drops off after the age of 35. That was really daunting and made me feel a sense of urgency around it,” Boney said.
“It was a lovely thing to go through during a lockdown as we weren’t allowed to do anything anyway, so I didn’t feel like I was missing out.
“You see all the changes in your mood and in your body, and all of that shifts with the hormones that you’re taking. It made me realise that I really do want to have a family and I really do want to have a baby.”
