Bridget Brennan joins ABC Breakfast as newsreader and co-host as Lisa Millar takes on ‘other projects’
ABC’s popular breakfast show has a new addition to its line-up of journalists, with a fresh face to take on the newsreader role and help fill in for Lisa Millar.
ABC News Breakfast fans will soon notice a fresh face in the program’s line up, with a well-known journalist stepping into a prominent role.
The broadcaster’s celebrated Indigenous Affairs Editor Bridget Brennan will move into the role of newsreader on the morning news show, starting next week.
The move was announced by News Breakfast co-host Michael Rowland, who described it as “big news”.
“From Monday, the fabulous Bridget Brennan joins News Breakfast in the role of newsreader,” Rowland tweeted about the move.
Rowland also confirmed that Brennan would be filling in for co-host Lisa Millar on occasion, with Ms Millar pursuing other interests at the organisation.
“Bridget will also be co-hosting with me at least one day a week while Lisa works on other ABC projects. She’ll be a fantastic addition to the Breakfast team!” Rowland added.
Viewers would be familiar with Brennan, as she has worked at the ABC for 12 years after starting as a cadet journalist in 2010.

She has also just stepped away from a busy period with the broadcaster, spending months covering the Voice to Parliament referendum.
Brennan has also had a number of roles across the organisation, including as National Indigenous Affairs Correspondent and Europe Correspondent.
The announcement follows finance presenter Madeleine Morris’ shock news that she would be stepping down from her role after four years on the show to spend more time with her children.
