Sofia Vergara shared this pic of herself with some of the cast after it was announced that Lena Dunham's Girls took out the award for best television comedy or musical series.

“We loose [sic] this time”, Vergara posted on her WhoSay account.

Modern Family - which is always a favourite in both the Emmys and the Golden Globes - won the prestigious award last year and was pegged to take it out again this year.

Other contenders for the award were hit TV shows Smash, Episodes and The Big Bang Theory.

Vergara and her co-star Eric Stonestreet were also singled out for individual nominations but fell short.

"The award is just going to the awards show,” the stunning actress told People magazine prior to the glitzy event.

“I never expected in my life that I was going to be part of a show like Modern Family and be nominated for anything. I'm very new to acting, so for me, it's a party."
