Melissa Rivers is officially following in her mother’s footsteps and joining Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski as the new co-host of Fashion Police, E! announced Wednesday.

“I’m very excited to be given the opportunity to continue to work with my E! and Fashion Police family,” said the 47-year-old.

The show will return on August 31 in the US and feature the three hosts as well as two rotating celebrity guests in each episode.

Rivers will also stay on as Executive Producer of the show.

“Melissa helped shape Fashion Police into an iconic TV series that couples fashion with comedy,” Jeff Olde, the network’s EVP of programming and development said.

“We are pleased to now also feature Melissa in front of the Fashion Police cameras … And with the added flavour of rotating panellists, the show will deliver fresh, different and unpredictable fashion reviews with each new episode.”

The future of Fashion Police has been rocky after Melissa’s mother Joan passed away last year. The cast welcomed Kathy Griffin in November, but after Rancic commented that 18-year-old Zendaya looked “like she smells like patchouli oil” or “weed” with her dreadlocks, the drama quickly unfolded behind the scenes.

Shortly after the highly publicised dis, Kelly Osbourne announced she was leaving the show and Griffin, 54, followed her out the door.

“After 7 episodes of Fashion Police, I discovered that my style does not fit with the creative direction of the show,” Griffin said, adding that she “shouldn’t have taken the gig.”
