MasterChef insider reveals wild judging detail that fans may have missed

An insider has revealed a previousy uknown detail about how the food is actually judged on the show.

MasterChef Australia has been sitting on a previously unknown detail about the show’s judging routine.

Every week, the contestants are challenged with cooking a dish that the accomplished four judges then have to taste and critique between themselves.

While it appears the judges do this together when the contestants present their dish in its final state, it turns out that’s actually not the case.

Filming taking so long that by the time contestants dress up their plate and present it to judges, the food is likely past its best state.

As a result, an insider told Yahoo that the four judges actually taste the dishes while the contestants are still cooking up a storm at their stations.

Producers then ask the four stars to keep their opinions to themselves until the cameras are set up for judging.

This means the judges get to taste the food at its peak temperature, allowing for a more informed opinion from the professional chefs.

“One of the most frequently asked questions about MasterChef Australia is the way in which the food is served for the judges and how they can possibly eat all the food at its perfect temperature,” an insider exclusively revealed to Yahoo.

“It is actually impossible to try all the food piping hot and therefore the judges taste each contestant’s food while they are cooking,” they continued.

“That is when Jean-Christophe, Poh, Andy and Sofia are required to document their outcomes.”

The insider added that the actual plated versions of the dishes are judged “much later than audiences would expect” as the food is “quite cold by the time it’s filmed for critiquing”.

MasterChef Australia returned to Channel 10 and 10Play earlier this month, and has proved to be a hit with viewers.

Many shared their love for new judge Poh Ling Yeow, who as expected went down a treat with viewers.

“Poh just gone straight in and taken charge. Loves it,” gushed one viewer, while another tweeted: “Can’t get enough of Poh!!”.

Others raved about her judging style, remarking that she’s a breath of fresh air.

“I love Poh as a judge, she’s empathetic, articulate and funny,” said a viewer, with another adding: “Poh’s already my favourite judge”.
