THE lawyer investigating the case made famous by Netflix series Making a Murderer says she has found an ‘airtight alibi’ for her client, Steven Avery.

Avery’s lawyer Kathleen Zellner — who specialises in wrongful conviction expert cases — claims a mystery prowler accessed Avery’s property while police were searching for the body of Teresa Halbach in 2005.

Zellner also claims mobile phone tower records reveal Ms Halbach left the Avery’s property — where she was last seen alive — but that Avery remained there.

Zeller used Twitter to air her discoveries — with campaigners for Avery — convicted of killing Halbach in 2005 — saying the revelations could identify a key culprit involved in the alleged framing of Mr Avery for the murder.

In two tweets she said: “Fact: one person actually gave cops fake name to access property to help in TH search. #MakingAMurderer #The StrangerBesideMe”.

She also tweeted: “Cellphone tower records of SA and TH provide airtight alibi for him. She left property he didn’t #MakingAMurderer #UnmakingAMurderer”

Zellner believes the mobile tower location may prove the pair were not together at the time of the murder, and that she could potentially prove someone had planted evidence on the property while police searched it on November 5, 2005.

Avery supporter Shaun Attwood told The Mirror: “It doesn’t surprise me in the least that someone used a fake ID to get on to the property, because not only did the killer or killers seem to have access, but also the sheriff’s department that was supposed to be hunting down the killer had every motivation in the world to frame Steven Avery.”

“If Kathleen Zellner can get to the bottom of who used that fake ID it might lead to the whole case unravelling.”

Avery was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in 2007.
