Kerri-Anne Kennerley reveals real reason why she’s doing I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here
TV darling Kerri-Anne Kennerley is headed into the African jungle but there is a big reason why she’s doing it.
Australia’s TV darling Kerri-Anne Kennerley has revealed why she’s appearing on Channel 10’s I’m A Celebrity Get me Out Of Here and it’s not what you’d expect.
Despite all the gruelling experiences she’s likely to discover – potentially eating bugs and close encounters with African wildlife (and other celebs they may not want to encounter) – KAK told The Sunday Project she just wanted “a few weeks of boot camp” and a spa.
Sara Harris asked: “Is there a nightmare campmate you’re worried about? What about Darren Hitch – who’s going in? Who’s going in, please tell me?
“I’m only bringing him up because I remember you were here on Studio 10.”
Hitch once described Kennerley as a “cockroach” of television during an interview.
“No, we’re way passed that now,” Kennerley replied. “I have seen him since then. So all is good.”
So what would her beloved late husband John think about her appearance?
“Are we pushing me in most of the you know, the big fun things I’ve done in my life?
“It’s because he would, he would push me into it.
“I don’t know who I am, let alone anybody else,” she added about her appearance on the show. “And I can be a chameleon.
“But that’s just who I am.”
When questioned about what she’d miss most, Kennerley immediately replied her dog Digger.
“Oh, my baby boy Digger without question.”
When asked to look down the camera and give a message to Australia, Kennerley said: “OK, it’s all right to vote me out.
“I won’t feel bad at all.
“I just need to do a week’s bit of bootcamp, bit of a spa, Have a good time. And then I could go, if that’s all right.
“I don’t need to be queen of the jungle.”
One of the celebrity clauses she got into her contract was having makeup – we all need a bit of help, girls – and according to the hosts “free flowing champagne”. (We’re not sure if that was a stipulation).
Kennerley will enter the jungle the day after the rest of the cast, making her debut on Monday’s episode. Asked if she’s worried her fellow contestants will feel jealous about her being allowed this one creature comfort, she shrugs.
“They should just get better management. Not my problem,” she says with a smile.
The contract stipulation is a small allowance to Kennerley’s public image: In her more than 40 years on Australian television, she’s never been anything less than glamorous.
