Queensland Police told the Courier Mail that they were investigating an alleged assault said to have taken place on August 20.

“Queensland Police are investigating a report regarding the alleged assault of a man at a Newstead business during an event on Saturday, August 20,” a spokesman said.

“As investigations are ongoing it would be inappropriate to comment further.”

Stefanovic has not been charged.

The six-hour event, which Karl hosted, raised $290,000 for melanoma research.

Stefanovic and his wife shared photos from the event on Instagram, with one showing the Today show star with melanoma sufferer and event organiser Gina Savage.

“Gina, courage, resilience and beauty,” he wrote.

“We just lifted the roof for you, your battles, your charity and everyone else fighting melanoma.”

Stefanovic has been in London over the last week to cover the Queen’s funeral for Channel 9.

He flew back on Wednesday, leaving co-host Allison Langdon to lead proceedings from outside Buckingham Palace alone.

Channel 9 was contacted for comment.
