Joy Behar exposes co-star’s ‘lesbian relationship’ on The View with her parents in the audience
Controversial The View panellist Joy Behar exposed her co-star’s past ‘lesbian relationship’ live on-air while her parents sat in the studio audience.
US talk show panellist Joy Behar shamelessly exposed her colleague Sara Haines’ past “lesbian relationship” live on The View while the latter’s parents were in the audience.
During Wednesday’s episode of The View, co-host Whoopi Goldberg introduced Haines’ parents, who were sitting in the audience.
“I have to ask her a question –– are you going to bring up that lesbian relationship you said you had or not?” Behar, 82, bluntly asked Haines on-air. “Back at Smith [College]!”
A stunned Haines, 47, couldn’t help but laugh as the camera panned to her parents, who seemed unimpressed by the confession.
“Dad, earmuffs!” Haines quickly quipped in embarrassment.
Haines and Behar’s co-hosts also appeared shocked by Behar’s question before fellow panellist Alyssa Farah Griffin called the comedian out.
“That was off-air she told us that,” Griffin said before Sunny Hostin pointed out, “Now, it’s on-air.”
Haines seemed to laugh off the situation since she continued joking that “it’s a good thing” her dad “doesn’t always watch” the show.
“Now he will!” Goldberg quipped.
Haines went on to discuss her childhood and career with her parents on the Behind the Table podcast filmed after the show, but they did not bring up the “lesbian” relationship story again.
The Emmy Award nominee has not previously discussed her “lesbian relationship,” but she has talked about having three serious relationships before her husband, Max Shifrin.
The two began dating in 2012 after Haines created a dating profile on OkCupid for a segment on Good Morning America.
They tied the knot two years later and share three children: sons Richard, 8, and Caleb, 5, and daughter Sandra, 6.
