Joel Creasey and Myf Warhurst quietly quit as SBS Eurovision hosts
Joel Creasey’s stand-up tour dates in May were the big clue that he and Myf Warhurst won’t return to host the SBS Eurovision broadcast next year.
Joel Creasey and Myf Warhurst have quietly quit as hosts of the SBS Eurovision broadcast in another shock departure to rock Australian television this year.
SBS quietly posted a surprise “Statement regarding commentary team for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025” on their website on Wednesday afternoon, announcing the duo were exiting the hosts role.
The statement came after Eurovision fan sites including Aussievision noted Creasey’s stand-up tour dates in Australia in May next year posed a clash with the 2025 contest in Basel, Switzerland.
The pair have hosted the SBS broadcast since 2017, when they took over the glitter mics from long-running hosts Julia Zemiro and Sam Pang.

It proved to a tough gig for Creasey and Warhurst who were forced to weather a storm of sledges from Aussie Eurovision fans who constantly compared them to the much-loved Zemiro and Pang.
“It’s been a huge honour to host the Eurovision Song Contest for SBS, but the time has come to hang up our glitter microphones,” the hosts said in the SBS statement.
“We have absolutely adored watching our Australian artists compete on the world stage and it’s been a privilege to bring that experience to our dedicated Australian Eurovision fans.”
The close friends signalled they will “work together in some capacity again soon.”
Australia’s Head of Delegation Emily Griggs said Creasey and Warhurst are “forever part of the Eurovision family.”

“We’ll cherish your sparkling years in the commentary booth and can’t wait for you to pass on your hot tips and expertise as we welcome our new hosts in 2025,” Griggs said.
It is understood SBS has been auditioning potential replacements but are unlikely to reveal the new hosts until February next year.
The artist to represent Australia at next year’s contest in Switzerland is also still up in the air.
While many fans have been lobbying for Dami Im to be given another shot at the title after she came so close to winning in 2016, it is unlikely she will realise her dream of singing at Eurovision again.
