‘Huge apologies’: Carrie Bickmore hits back at outfit critics
CARRIE Bickmore says she “must have missed the memo” about the apparent fashion faux-pas that has some viewers up in arms.
THE Project host Carrie Bickmore has issued a deeply sarcastic apology for an apparent fashion faux-pas she’s been committing on the show.
Her sartorial crime, according to some outlets reporting it as ‘news’? She’s worn the same outfit on the show MORE THAN ONCE. The horror.
In a shocking display of off-the-rails behaviour, Bickmore’s also been known to turn up at events wearing a dress SHE HAS WORN BEFORE. See the sickening evidence for yourself below (warning - graphic content):
Given Bickmore has been hosting The Project four nights a week, week in week out since 2009 (the show has clocked around 1,800 episodes to date), rewearing the occasional dress on screen seems not just understandable but thoroughly expected.
Posting a screenshot of several online articles drawing attention to her penchant for wearing the ‘SAME’ outfit more than once — rather than, we can only assume, torching each lovely frock after a single wear and scattering the ashes at sea - Bickmore couldn’t resist taking the piss.
“Huge apologies. I must have missed the memo (blaming my mum who won’t throw out beautiful dresses she used to wear in the 80’s and can still wear now I might add) I had no idea you are NOT allowed to wear the same dress twice. Do I send a note to all the brides whose weddings I have been to lately and worn the same black lace dress? Crap,” she wrote.
“Here’s the scoop- sometimes I loan outfits to wear on the show that are not even in store yet (Ohhh La la)..sometimes I get gifted outfits to keep (yay) , sometimes I wear gowns designed specifically for me (lucky girl)...and sometimes...we run down the street, grab something off the shelf, we buy it and I wear it a few times because I love it. I will continue to operate in this reckless fashion.”
Onya, Bickmore. You always look wonderfully glam, but you could host the show in your trackie-dacks for all we care.
