Hollywood star Nicholas Braun speaks out after being brutally cut-off mid-interview on The Project
Succession star Nicholas Braun has spoken out after having his Project interview brutally cut short on Sunday night.
Succession star Nicholas Braun has opened up about his awkward appearance on The Project, claiming he was “set up”.
The Hollywood star, who is in Australia for the local premiere of the final season of Succession on Binge, was cut off mid-interview on the Ten current affairs program on Sunday night – much to the anger of fans.
To make it more awkward, the 34-year-old actor was discussing an incredible story of the time he met famed director Quentin Tarantino. Braun had been speaking to how he’s more confident in real life as opposed to his beloved character, Cousin Greg, when hosts Sarah Harris and Hamish Macdonald stopped the yarn short.
Opening up about the on air bungle at a VIP screening of Succession Episode Two in Sydney on Monday night, Braun admitted he wished he’d had “a few more minutes” to speak.
“I had this guy yelling in my ear saying it was a minute left and all this stuff then they asked me to tell the story about Quentin Tarantino,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
“I must have had only like 20 seconds left. I was set up to just yell the end. I think I managed to finish the story. I just wish I had a few more minutes or it was in person. Next time maybe I can do it on the desk or read some news.”
Braun is currently in Australia promoting the final season of Succession on Binge.
During his Project interview, he told the hosts how he saw Tarantino onboard a plane when he was 21 - and fresh from filming a Disney Channel Original movie.
In a bid to pitch himself as a future star to the Pulp Fiction director, Braun said he approached Tarantino with a magazine ad of his children’s flick, Minutemen.
“So I saw Quentin and he was in first class and I walked past him. And when I got to my seat I was like, ‘I have to do something, I have to say something to Quentin,’” Braun said via video link from Melbourne.
“So I ripped the [movie] ad off the back of the magazine and I brought it to Quentin and I was like ‘Hi Quentin, you don’t know me but this is me here on this ad’,” he explained.
However, Braun was unable to finish telling the incredible story as Harris cut him off, saying, “We’re running out of time” as they had go to a commercial break before a live cross with Kerri-Anne Kennerley, who is currently competing on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!.
Despite the abrupt ending, Braun took it in his stride and said: “I know, we’ll wrap it up, it’s a very important story.”
“Great to join you guys, so fun,” he graciously added. “I’ll see you in person next time.”

Following the commercial break and after Braun had signed out, Harris and Macdonald returned and ran a pre-recorded interview with Kennerley, in which the trio talked about the South African jungle for a lengthy period.
The I’m A Celeb interview did not sit well with at-home viewers and Succession fans.
“Bloody Channel 10 playing a like minute advert but had to cut off Nicholas Braun during his interview,” one tweeted, while another commented: “When TV presenters think they’re the stars … Cut him off.”
Yet another viewer was unhappy and let The Project panel know it.
“Really a cut off?! Aw man. let me guess they want to promote more im a celeb/KAK interview in this last part of the show because cross promotion,” they wrote.
