Those joining the cast are: Andrew Scott as John Parry, Jade Anouka as Ruta Skadi, and Simone Kirby as Dr. Mary Malone, while Dafne Keen as Lyra, Ruth Wilson as Mrs. Coulter, Ariyon Bakare as Lord Boreal, among others, have reprised their roles.

Fans of Fleabag will know newcomer Scott as the “Hot Priest”, and in a surprise coup for diehard Phoebe Waller-Bridge followers, the comedian is also jumping on board for season two, as none other than John’s daemon.

“My daemon is going to be played by somebody who is very close to me in real life, which is a young performer and writer called Phoebe Waller-Bridge,” the actor revealed during the Comic-Con panel today.

“It’s all about companionship and friendship and loyalty and that’s what I feel about Phoebe in my real life. So, it’s wonderful that that’s happening.”

In the fantasy series, daemons appear as the animal form of a human’s soul. According to Radio Times, Waller-Bridge will be playing a female osprey named Sayan Kötör.

The second season of His Dark Materials will pick up after Lyra was betrayed by her father, Lord Asriel (James McAvoy), who had murdered her friend as a way of reaching the new world.

Venturing into the unknown, Lyra follows him over the bridge where she meets Will.

The pair have a lot in common, with Will also on the run. But that’s not the only thing that connects them.

It turns out their destinies depend on reuniting Will with his father, but with a war waging around them this journey isn’t so simple.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Coulter – who is Lyra’s mother – has remained in her world but is determined to bring Lyra home.

Adapting Philip Pullman’s award-winning trilogy of the same name, which is considered to be among the best imaginative fiction stories, the series follows Lyra (Dafne Keen), a young orphan from a parallel universe who is in search of her kidnapped friend.

Season one aired to critical acclaim in November last year, with season two expected to drop later this year.
