AMERICAN novelist George RR Martin has taken a page out of his own book and returned from the dead.

Spinning the words behind the dramatic series Game of Thrones, Martin took to his blog to reassure fans he is alive and well, after he was mistakenly confused with the late Beatles producer, George Martin.

“While it is strangely moving to realise that so many people around the world care so deeply about my life and death, I have to go with Mark Twain and insist that the rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated,” he said.

“It was Sir George Martin, of Beatles fame, who has passed away. Not me.”

“I am still here, still writing, still editing, still going to movies and reading books, and I expect to hang around for quite a while yet, thank you very much. But thank you all for caring.”

When news broke of the former Beatles producer’s passing on Wednesday, Twitter went into meltdown, with GoT fans fearful the death would leave the GoT novels unfinished.

“I thought George RR Martin just died.... Just some other George Martin,” one said.

“(whispers) George *RR* Martin is still gonna die before he finishes those goddamn books tho,” Caitlin Kelly tweeted.

“Now that George RR Martin has passed we’ll never get a sixth Beatles novel. sorry, i’m not really paying attention,” another said.

George Martin, known as “the fifth Beatle” for his work in shaping the band that became one of the world’s most influential music forces, died at the age of 90.

The GoT author added while he had never met Sir George Martin, the producer would be greatly missed.

“Like many millions of others, I loved the Beatles, and Martin’s contribution to their music is worthy of recognition and honour.”
