Game of Thrones writers David Benioff and Dan Weiss tease ‘best finale yet’
THE Game of Thrones writers say the upcoming season finale is “the finest hour” of television they’ve produced. We’ve got a sneak peek. SPOILERS
GAME of Thrones writers David Benioff and Dan Weiss say the show’s season finale, which will air on Monday, is “perhaps the finest hour” of television they’ve produced.
“It’s the best finale we’ve ever done, bar none,” Benioff and Weiss told Entertainment Weekly.
“The performances from our cast, the direction from Alex Graves, the VFX work, the new (music) cues from Ramin Djawadi ... all of it came together in perhaps the finest hour we’ve produced,” they said.
“We’re immensely proud of the ‘The Children’. And a little intimidated by the episode, because now we have to get back to the business of season five and figure out a way to top it.”
Well. That’s exciting.
HBO has released a 30-second preview of the finale, which includes a few clues regarding the episode’s content. For instance, we know that Jon Snow does reach the wildlings’ leader, Mance Rayder, in the aftermath of last week’s huge battle.

“We’ll kill every last man in Castle Black,” Rayder says in the trailer.
Meanwhile, Bran, Jojen, Meera and Hodor finally make it to that weird tree, and Cersei appears to confront her father.
“How can someone so consumed by the idea of his family have any conception what his actual family was doing?” she asks.
Of course, there is also the obligatory shot of some roaring dragons.

The season finale will be an unusually long episode, clocking in at 66 minutes. Hopefully, Weiss and Benioff have filled that extra time with a lot of excitement ... and some closure for a certain dwarf.
