From real estate agent to TV host
RELOCATION Relocation star Bryce Holdaway talks about the pressures of juggling a new TV role with first time fatherhood.
IF walking the property tightrope wasn't stressful enough, Relocation Relocation Australia co-host Bryce Holdaway had to juggle a new TV role with becoming a dad for the first time. Here's how he did it.
Q. How did you move from buyer's agent to TV?
I'm one of those enviable people for whom (TV) just fell in my lap. With so many people lining up to find fame on shows such as Australian Idol and MasterChef, for me it was the other way around. If it wasn't for my darling wife I probably wouldn't have the role.
Q. You weren't that keen on a property TV career?
It's not that, it just happened to be at one of the really busy times.
When they rang back about the second audition, I said I literally can't fit it in. But my wife said, "That's fine, I've already booked your ticket." Some gentle prodding from her and I was away.
Q. You got the gig and then she found out she was pregnant, right?
Exactly. There was obviously some cool stuff happening in my life. And now we have baby Jack, my pride and joy.
Q. Were you a fan of the Location, Location and Relocation, Relocation series in the UK?
Loved it. My wife and I spent a short time over in London and we got to see a lot of it. Phil (Spencer) and Kirstie (Allsopp) have paved the way for us.
Q. They are pretty big shoes to fill. How did you approach the challenge?
(Co-host) Veronica (Morgan) and I have chatted about it a lot. If we try to be Kirstie and Phil, we'll fail and they cast us not to be them.
Q. What can you tell us about the latest property trends?
Some of the "muscle" towns might be the new trend. A muscle town is where the grunt happens, driving the mining boom.
