He made his acting debut on one of the longest running television shows in Australian history, but would you recognise this star from a childhood photo?

He arrived on Ramsay Street with his sister Kate but he was killed off the show just four years later when his character was hit by a truck.

But, the 48-year-old went on to star in the 90s reboot of The Tomorrow People and iconic Australian television show Sea Patrol.

He also had a huge role on Packed to the Rafters, starring in the series as the brother of Jake, who was played by James Stewart. Schmid’s character, Alex, had cerebral palsy.

Schmid hasn’t just stuck to television though, starring alongside huge names such as Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr and Matthew Lillard in Scooby Doo.

He’s also appeared in theatre productions, such as William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Puck and The Lion in Winter as Prince John.

His most recent roles include a 30-episode arc on Home And Away – Australia’s other huge soap opera.

He played Mick Jennings who was initially introduced to viewers as the long lost son of Irene Roberts, who has been played by Lynne Granger for three decades after she joined the cast in 1993.

But, it wasn’t all that appeared after it was soon revealed Mick assaulted another character, who gave birth to his child before she passed away from cancer.

Schmid also appears in 2023 television series North Shore, which follows the story of British and Aussie detectives teaming up to solve a tangled murder mystery.
