Their friendship couldn’t be saved by the bell.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar (who played Zack Morris) revealed on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen that he and his former Saved by the Bell co-star, Dustin Diamond (who played Screech), haven’t spoken in more than two decades.

When the late-night show’s host asked how long it had been since he’d last spoken to Screech, he star responded, “1994.”

“That’s funny,” said 50-year-old Cohen, as Gosselaar added, “It’s the truth! I mean, I’m not making anything up.”

Saved By The Bell aired in the US from 1989 to 1993. After the show ended, Diamond filmed a sex tape and got into a lot of legal trouble, even serving jail time for stabbing a man in a bar scuffle.

Diamond also upset his former co-stars when he released a tell-all book in 2009 titled Behind The Bell that alleged drug use, sexual misconduct and more. Gosselaar spoke out against the book a few years later.

“Everything I’ve heard about his book is it is negative,” Gosselaar said on HuffPost Live in 2014. “I don’t remember those things. My experience on the show was very positive.”

Eventually, Diamond denied writing the book and claimed he used a ghostwriter. He also apologised for any damage it caused to his co-stars’ reputations.

“I will say, guys … I’m sorry that this has taken advantage of me, the book and other situations,” he said on an episode of The Dr. Oz Show. “But I’m sure that you’ve experienced downfalls, as well, in your time and I’m still loving you guys.”
