Everything we know about Friends reunion special
After months of speculation, a Friends reunion special has finally been agreed upon by the show’s cast. Here’s what we know about it so far.
They’ll be there for you, but this time on HBO Max.
A Friends reunion special is set to air in a matter of months – and could include a major role for Ellen DeGeneres, according to a new report.
Warner Bros. is completing pay negotiations with the show’s stars – Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer – after the cast rejected an initial $US1 million ($A1.5 million) offer, sources told the Wall Street Journal.
The latest deal would give them each $US2.25 million ($A3.37 million) to $US2.5 million ($A3.37 million), though Warner Bros. claims nothing has been finalised.
The special – which would feature reflective interviews with the cast, rather than a scripted episode similar to the original series – is expected to coincide with the launch of the HBO Max streaming service this spring, the Journal sources reportedly said.
DeGeneres, who has mentioned a Friends reunion on her daytime talk show and interviewed the cast members throughout the years, is reportedly high on the list of potential hosts.
Aniston, who played Rachel Green on the hit NBC series, surprised fans visiting a Friends mock set on the Warner Bros. lot in Los Angeles while guest-hosting Ellen last month.
