Britney Spears slams Diane Sawyer over infamous 2003 interview

Britney Spears has lashed out at Diane Sawyer over their infamous 2003 interview in the wake of her split from Justin Timberlake.

Britney Spearshas told Diane Sawyer she can “kiss [her] white ass,” finally calling the news anchor out for bringing her to tears in a 2003 sit-down TV interview.

“Do we dare forget the Diane Sawyer interview in my apartment almost 20 years ago?” Spears — who had just split from Justin Timberlake at the time — wrote in a since-deleted post shared to Instagram late Monday, reports the NY Post.

...while Diane Sawyer probed her.

“What was with the ‘You’re in the wrong’ approach? Geeze … and making me cry???”

Spears, 40, continued, explaining that she “never spoke to anyone” at the time she lived in that New York City apartment.

“My manager put that woman in my home and made me talk to her on national television,” she claimed. “She asked if I had a shopping problem!!! When did I have a shopping problem?”

The interview spawned this infamous image of Spears crying.

Spears’ interview with Sawyer, which originally aired on ABC’s Primetime Thursday, resurfaced back in February, as clips were featured in The New York Times Presents Framing Britney Spears documentary.

Sawyer, 75, at one point asked Spears, “Justin has gone on television and pretty much said you broke his heart. You did something that caused him so much pain, so much suffering. What did you do?”

Sawyer also suggested that Spears was setting a bad example for children at the time and “upsetting a lot of mothers in this country.”

Meanwhile, in various other interviews conducted in the ’90s and ’00s, Timberlake, 40, was seemingly idolised after his 2002 split from Spears, as the controversial Framing Britney Spears doc explored. “Something I never shared when I had that break-up years ago was that I couldn’t talk afterwards,” Spears admitted in her latest Instagram post. “I was in shock … pretty lame of my dad [Jamie] and three men to show up at my door when I could hardly speak … two days later, they put Diane Sawyer in my living room … they forced me to talk!”

Further calling out Sawyer, Spears wrote, “I was a baby … I was almost 22 and didn’t understand, but I f**king do now.”

“She said ‘a woman or a girl’ … I would like to say now, ‘Ma’am I’m a catholic slut!!!’” Spears continued. “She can kiss my white ass.”

The post comes a month after Spears was freed from her 13-year conservatorship, and nearly a week after Judge Brenda Penny granted the singer permission to sign her own paperwork and control her finances.
