Andy Cohen reveals Sarah-Jessica Parker was mortified by his Sex and the City audition

He may have been best friends with Sarah-Jessica Parker, but that didn’t help Andy Cohen in the Sex and the City audition room.

There were many guest stars during Sex and the City’s six-year run.

In the legendary series, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon as four best friends in New York City, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Coolidge, Geri Halliwell and Justin Theroux were just a handful of big names who graced the HBO sitcom, which streams on Binge.

But it turns out one high profile star couldn’t make the cut.

Parker’s long-time friend, American TV host Andy Cohen, has revealed he auditioned for a role on the show that didn’t go too well.

E! Online obtained an exclusive clip from Quibi’s upcoming series The Andy Cohen Diaries, where the veteran Watch What Happens Live host recalled his woeful audition for SATC.

“Years ago, I used to beg Sarah Jessica to let me run Sex and the City lines with her,” he says. “I’d even finagled an audition for a party planner role on Sex and the City.

“I’ll never forget the looks of horror on Sarah Jessica and Hickey’s faces when I tried to act out a scene for them.

“I didn’t get the part.”

Cohen, 52, did later managed to nab a couple of extra roles.

“I did play ‘shirtless guy next to Carrie in gay bar’ in season 4, and ‘Barneys shoe salesman’ in season 6.”

However, his role as shirtless guy next to Carrie didn’t make the main cut, with Cohen revealing on an Instagram post in 2018 he was cut out of the TV version.

“(The scene) now only lives on DVD & Amazon,” he wrote.

Maybe nepotism doesn’t exist in Hollywood after all.
