GET ready for more awkward humour, family drama, frustrating romance and Nina's all-too-familiar overactive imagination - Ten's Offspring is back.

The comedy-drama series that has proved to be a massive ratings hit for Channel Ten is returning to our screens next month with season four and news.com.au has the first exclusive look at the brand new series.

When we left our lovably neurotic heroine Nina Proudman and her beautiful, brooding man Patrick Reed last season, the on-off pair had  finally treated fans to some happy news - they were expecting a child together.

Things look promising for 12-weeks pregnant Nina (played by Gold Logie-nominated Asher Keddie) and Patrick (Matt Le Nevez) in this first sneak peek - well, for now, that is.

The new season also sees the return of all of the cast favourites - Deborah Mailman, John Waters, Lachy Hulme, Eddie Perfect and Kat Stewart.

From the looks of things, here's just some of what fans can expect when Nina's expecting:

• Our favourite fantasy-prone obstetrician hasn't swayed from her daydreaming ways
• Nina's big sister Billie (Stewart) is just as bold and bossy as ever
• The pesky nurses set out to stir more chaos
• An oh-so-wrong naked spa scene between Nina's mum, dad, AND her biological father
• The introduction of a hot, new mysterious doctor - gender unknown

In conjunction with the brand new season, Channel Ten has launched its very own smartphone app; The Offspring: Moving In app.

The free app is the first of its kind for an Aussie TV drama, allowing fans to view exclusive scenes and insight into the characters - both old, and new.

Available through the Apple iTunes app store and Google Play from today, April 4.
